Fully Optimized

Exfoliant

By handling excess dead skin layers, your face looks extra fresh. Exfoliants come in the form of physical (like our Jojoba Scrub) or chemical AHA/BHA. AHAs & physical work on the skin and BHAs work in the pores, so they are a good choice for excess blackheads (they can be drying).

Serum

These are products that are meant to deliver a specific benefit that you want more of. I.e. Brightening, Anti-aging, Hydration. If you are 21 or over, you want an anti-aging serum with a Retinoid or Vitamin C.

What's Just Marketing

Eye Creams

Big Secret. For the most part eye creams are the exact same thing as good moisturizer, but in a smaller size with a fatter pricetag. Brands just know that eyes are often the biggest concern and so they play on that.

Clay and Sheet Masks

If you are using great products to begin with, these won’t move the needle and can be quite time consuming. However, they are great if you want to feel that extra pampered spa day vibe.

Toners & Hyaluronic Acid Serum

These are meant to add a little hydration to your skin, but if you have great products, they are redundant.

The Routine

Morning

Wash (optional)

This is optional in the morning. If your skin is on the oily side or you get acne easily, start the day off with face wash. Otherwise, just a splash of cool water will do just fine.

Moisturize

Apply a small amount of moisturizer to face and neck. Sunscreen if you are going outside during the day. If your sunscreen is particularly moisturizing, you don’t need to use a moisturizer beforehand.

Sunscreen

If you are going outside during the day apply a quarter-sized amount to the face and neck. If you are going to be out for extended periods of time in direct sunlight, be sure to reapply every 2 hours.

Bedtime

Wash

Wet face, apply a small amount of cleanser and massage it in for 20-30 seconds. Rinse well. Cool water recommended for those with dry skin. If you used sunscreen, washing twice is a good idea to ensure you are able to clean it all off.

Scrub

1-2x Per week: Apply a quarter-sized amount of scrub to the face and gently massage in for up to 20 seconds. No need to overdo this one and irritate our skin. Rinse well, we find using a scrub in the shower is best for ensuring you wash all the exfoliant away, especially if you have a beard.

If you ever feel your skin is irritated, take a pass on this one until it is back to normal.

Serum

2-3x a week – Apply a pea-sized amount to the face and neck. Carefully avoid the lips, eyelids, and corners of the eyes. Gradually increase frequency to every other night, then finally each evening as tolerated. If you are using a serum without retinoids, you can use it nightly.

Moisturize

The last step of your nighttime routine. Apply a dime-sized amount to the face and neck and massage in.
